Wedding Inspiration: This past June we were invited to be part of the wedding workshops organised by the Little Pink Book as part of the on-stage entertainment at The South African Wedding Show. Each workshop was a collaboration of service providers in the industry and together we created a little taste of a full wedding – stationery, décor, cake and food – all in an hour. This shoot was the result of that collaboration.
The Venue partner for this workshop was Val de Vie Estate, our very own South African Polo Estate. The Restaurant and its beautiful big fireplace, high-back chairs and antique furniture provided the inspiration for this very classic table setting. We brought the patio table inside, because we found the natural worn wood texture so exciting. Then we added the high-back upholstered chairs, cut glass glasses and pewter containers filled with proteas and vegetables. I love the contrast between smooth and rough, classic glamour and casual country living that to me, defines the Val de Vie lifestyle.
For this second, more summery look, we got our inspiration from the Dutch master painters of the 1700′s, who were famous for their beautiful paintings of flowers, fruit and insects. This look is really a clash between traditional, old-world beauty and a more organic, stripped-down, fresh approach. I am completely obsessed with wood at the moment and the natural wood Tiffany chairs from Exclusive Hire, really sums up this look perfectly. We transformed some plastic bugs with a little gold spray paint to add a playful touch. The raw silk dress we chose was very simple, structured; almost functional. The bouquet was kept simple with a combination of decorative cabbages, tulips, blushing brides and amaranthus.StudioBLOEM Stationery: Secret Diary Creative Concepts & Designs; Makeup and Hair Stylist: Sanmarie Hair and Make-up Artist; Photographer: JaniB Photography; Second Photographer: Janine Bronkhorst; Wedding Dresses: Nina Christine; Glasses: Exclusive Hire; Pewter Décor, Underplates and Napkins: Classy Hire
