Beatrix Events is a boutique events and wedding company that ensure client exclusivity and a bespoke wedding. They are obsessed with all things pretty and perfect and that is evident in their service and end product. They take your wedding from design to flawless execution. We would like to share Michelle and Ruan’s beautiful wedding with you.
You chose Beatrix Events to coordinate your wedding. Would you recommend Beatrix Events to any future Brides? How did they contribute towards making your special day run smoothly? They are very professional and I would recommend them any day! They constantly provided us with updates, sending us pictures to make sure we have the same vision, and were always open and transparent about the costs. On the day everything they organised looked perfect, and they exceeded our expectations!
You had a beautiful dress! Tell us more about the designer, the fit, elements you loved, etc. I wanted a vintage lace dress, something different from the norm. I came across some dresses in the “Sarie Bruid” and saw dresses from designer Elizabeth Stockenstrom. I went onto the website, and knew I would find a dress there! Her studio is in Cape Town, so I had to travel from Johannesburg to Cape Town for my first fitting. I chose an existing dress, as I could not have a new dress made as this would have involved too much travelling. Two weeks before the wedding I flew down again, and stayed for two nights, during which they altered the dress, and it was perfect!
What was the “theme” of your wedding, and why? We went to Europe a couple of years ago, and absolutely loved Paris. So we decided for a French-Vintage theme, with dark purple, and silver and the old silver candelabras, etc. A very romantic feel.
What were the highlights of your wedding day? It rained until about an hour before the ceremony started, so when it stopped, I was very happy. Also seeing everything come together perfectly after months of planning, made my day so special. The venue reception area was beautiful, especially seeing the fairy lights candles etc. And everyone congratulating us was my favorite part!
How did you decide on your wedding venue? What was your Venue shortlist? Gecko Ridge was very accommodating, they did not charge for every single extra item. We were allowed to bring in our own welcome snacks, ciders and beers during the ‘cocktail hour’. Whatever we could use of the venue that made it all look much better, they allowed it without charging anything extra. Angelique, the hostess, was calm and reassuring, making it all very stress-free. The venue itself is on the Pienaar River and absolutely beautiful! We were considering Avianto and Isiphiwo as well.
Did anything unexpected happen? I am trying to think of something, but no, nothing really. Everything went according to plan and schedule. Except that we won a wedding cake, when we entered a Ster Kinekor competition. Rozanne Henning makes beautiful cakes, and I could not be happier!
What every Bride should know: Just relax, and try not to stress on the day, it is so unnecessary. The dress is everything, but the hair and make-up finishes of the look. It is very important that the end result is exactly what you want! Do what you want to do, this is your day! Try to ignore all the opinions of concerned family members.
What every Groom should know: I asked my husband to answer this one – not sure how true this is.. The day goes by in a blink of an eye, so enjoy every second.
