Choosing a wedding venue – Questions to ask.
Choosing a wedding venue is one of the most important steps in planning your wedding and also a key element in the success and beauty of the day! Asking the right questions while choosing your venue is of great importance.

- Can the venue accommodate your number of guests?
- Will the venue be able to reflect my style and décor? - Lots of venues have a certain look or feel, for example rustic venues or modern venues, and will thus not be able to reflect all kinds of styles.
- Does the venue suit your budget? - First get the rates of the venues you like and then make a shortlist of those you can afford. Then do a site inspection and organise a consultation to discuss details.
- What does the venue hire fee include? - Many venues include tables, chairs, cutlery and crockery and therefore you won’t have to hire these items in yourself.

- Does the venue meet your space requirements? - Is there space for pre-reception drinks and canapés, space for a dance floor, suitable parking facilities, suitable kitchen facilities, enough bridal photo opportunities, can you bring in your own caterer?
And the most important question to ask when it comes to choosing a wedding venue is if you, the bride, love the place; if you can see yourself having your most memorable day there. In the end, this is the most important question!

There’s a lot to be said for hiking. It’s a good way to exercise whilst saving you from the exotic body odours and dubious cleanliness of gym changing rooms. It forces you from out behind the latest Youtube video of a cat falling off a TV and into the great outdoors where our ancestors once roamed freely without the help of GPS.
And roam they did, particularly in Southern Africa where being a nomadic tribesman was the “in” thing for thousands of years. Maybe, as a South African, I’ve never…

Proteas crush India in just four days
India made a valiant effort to stave off an innings defeat against South Africa in the first test at Jamtha Stadium in Nagpur yesterday, but in the end it was to no avail as they crashed to an innings-and-six run defeat. The Proteas’ win was set up by a mammoth 340-run third wicket, first innings partnership between Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis, which knocked the stuffing out of the home side.
Amla eventually carried his bat through the…

Riebeek Kasteel
One thing you need to know about Riebeek Kasteel is that it’s no longer a secret. Which isn’t to say that you won’t enjoy yourself immensely in this gorgeous little town nestled up against the Kasteelberg Mountain roughly an hour’s drive from Cape Town, but if the cost of homes is anything to go by (and there are at least four estate agencies jostling for attention on the square as you enter town) then people are lining up for their spot in the sun in…
