A presidential wedding

Most South Africans have been talking about President Zuma’s marriage to his third wife on Monday, and what a celebration it was! A host of celebrities and politicians attended the traditional wedding which was held at his rural home in Nkandla. Due to tight security there aren’t many details about the event itself, but a grand marquee was erected and guests enjoyed a large feast. To top it off, Awuleth’ umshini wami was played several times.

Stephanie and Mark’s beautiful wedding was celebrated last Saturday at Clouds Estate. It was a hot and sunny day, the perfect setting for this elegant wedding which included decor details such as chandeliers, delicate pink and cream roses and elegant outdoor lounge furniture where guests could sit and take in the views.
Guests were also treated to an African music performance, as well as a game of croquet or two on the estate’s lush lawns. True to Stephanie’s Greek heritage, there were plenty of mezze platters and Greek dancing. We love these gorgeous photos by Ryan Graham; be sure to visit...

How did you meet?
Growing up in the same neighbourhood; hanging out in the same circle of friends; going to the same teenager parties; eagerly anticipating the next summer month to get a glimpse of Laetitia in shorts or a skirt… Hey, it was simply a matter of time before the Gods, not to mention the brides’ perseverance – she took ten months to convince him we were meant to be, brought us together…
How did he propose?
After nine and a half years together he finally decided to pop the question… (smile). He completely surprised her with a trip to Johannesburg (a trip she’s always wanted to...

We recently did the wedding of Jo-Lize from Flower Floral Affair’s daughter. Anelle and Kobus decided to get married in their hometown of Riebeeck Kasteel. Jo-Lize did the beautiful decor and flowers, it was magnificant!
The table seating was displayed in this antique window frame. We used several scrapbooking texturised papers to create a visual feast.
The main table was marked with a giant bell jar with the word, “bruidstafel” meaning “bridal table”.
This festive display welcomed the guests on the stoep (entrance) of the Kleinevalleij venue.
Jo-Lize’s talent was evident...

It’s not long before South Africa plays host to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the world’s biggest sporting event! We’re so excited and can’t wait for South Africa to show the world what it has to offer.
The scale of the event is absolutely astounding. The World Cup is approximately 15 times bigger than the 1995 Rugby World Cup, and it’s estimated that 220 000 long haul visitors will come to South Africa, as well as 180 000 visitors from Africa and an average of 150 000 local supporters! To top it off, there’s also a media contingent that will amount to 30 000 people.
Of course, things are going to get...

How / where did you meet?
Paul was on a contract in Cameroon (West Africa) and I was there visiting my mom… one night I was invited to a braai and being Lebanese I didn’t know what a braai meant, so I showed up in high heels. Standing outside with my heel digging in the mud, my dress code was a conversation starter between Paul and I, and today 2000 braais later, I still bring out the heels every once in a while
How did he propose?
Oh my… longest story in the world, short version: we were living in Uganda, it was our third year anniversary and Paul said we should go to this lodge called the...
