The process of finding your ideal wedding dress within your budget is almost as challenging as finding the right man for the wedding. The reason for this is that every eye will be straining to see the enchanting bride in all her glory. This focused attention from your guests requires extra contemplation in selecting your gown.

The top list of elements to consider when selecting your bridal designer is the quality and comfort, exquisite and individualized design detail, and elegance within the personal styling of the dress.

Prior to meeting with the chosen designer, it is important to view and try on as many different dress styles ranging from the traditional Cinderella ball gown to contemporary sleek and soft flowing dresses.

It is imperative to firstly determine the type of wedding: formal or informal. The nature of the occasion will ultimately decide the styling of the dress. Keep in mind the fabric you might like, colour concept, comfort specifications and personal requirements, and then the flow of the dress. All considerations need to be taken carefully for the reason that you, the bride, will remain the focal point of the whole occasion.

Trends for the coming season…

New Lengths

lengths

While traditional hemlines sweep the floor, if you are not afraid to show a little leg, and your pins happen to be your best asset, contemporary brides are opting for a variety of styles from floor-length to tea-length to knee length to mini shift dresses. A shorter skirt may give you more movement on the dance floor, while the tea-length might be just the look for a morning wedding. Showing legs at the wedding ceremony doesn’t look bad anymore. However, if you are aiming for an elegant affair, nothing beats the full-length gown with a sweeping train.

Femininity

If a colour statement is a touch too bold for you, try the trend “Garden of Earthly Delights”. Embellishments such as eye-catching fabric rosettes, lace transparency and appliqué, satin ribbons and bows, and buds carefully placed at the hip, neckline and shoulder allow a sophisticated yet sweet femininity.

Asymmetrical Necklines

The “Greek Goddess” is still a show stopper moving into 2010. Asymmetrical one-shoulder necklines are gracing wedding couture, highlighting a bride’s shoulders, neck and face. This style allows brides to be less concerned with a strapless dress feeling as if it’s falling down or needing a padded bra to hold it up. Firstly, as women usually prefer more tight-fitting garments, it is guaranteed to stand out whilst concealing certain figure traits one wishes to hide and emphasizing the bust area. It is dramatic and column dresses are truly statuesque, while a dress that bares one shoulder looks daring yet luxurious.

Colour Palette

Splashes of colour are becoming more and more popular. Designers are adding charcoals, warm toasts, and champagne and blush tones to the white and off-white dress palette. You can see hints of colour in intricate embroidery, draping, beading and crystals, in hues of blues, sage green, vivid red, soft pastels, violet, ivory pink and black. This colour play is a great way to dress up waistlines, necklines and skirts. It should not be limited to the trendiest tones, but rather your favourite preference.
