It’s not long before South Africa plays host to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the world’s biggest sporting event! We’re so excited and can’t wait for South Africa to show the world what it has to offer.

The scale of the event is absolutely astounding. The World Cup is approximately 15 times bigger than the 1995 Rugby World Cup, and it’s estimated that 220 000 long haul visitors will come to South Africa, as well as 180 000 visitors from Africa and an average of 150 000 local supporters! To top it off, there’s also a media contingent that will amount to 30 000 people.

Of course, things are going to get very busy and we can expect our fair share of crazy traffic and flight delays. But whether you’re a local sports fan or a business person, it’s going to be an exhilarating time. Crowds of potential customers will give a boost to local businesses, while sports fans can visit fan parks in all major cities, creating the perfect space to watch a game and get into the spirit of things.

All we can say is: bring it on!
