Lara & Jean ~ Italy

The Amalfi coast in Italy is a quick tonic to relieve the stress of long journey filled with planes, trains and cheating taxi drivers. To describe the serenity and breath taking panorama’s one would need the pen of a Wilde, Orwell or Hemingway. I’ll do my best to describe this piece of Mediterranean heaven with a wedding fitting to the scenery. A few photo’s may also help the cause.

Leaving Naples with its dodgy characters, the warm blue waters of the Mediterranean coast line lies inviting as one ferry to the magic coast line of Positano.
For once the people are warm and friendly and despite my five word Italian vocabulary one can even get to the little fish market in a back ally of Sorrento.

It was at Leon and Marsha’s (Lara’s sister) wedding that I told Lara and Jean to phone me when the big day was due. My little joke really turned for the best as they phoned and asked me to capture their memories in Italy Positano. The only dampener was the long wait and preparation leading up to this Al fresco wedding.

What felt like an eternity the day finally arrived. After meeting up in Roma a short engagement shoot on the Spanish steps followed despite jet lagged bodies. The next day we departed for the Amalfi.

Every evening we gathered for a large family dinner and some good Italian wine. Surreal feelings of being in an art a house movie was not far off.

The big day arrived way too soon but one can hardly ask for a better work environment. Lara made the Italian pensioners harts beat faster with her Christ B. dress. Jean’s easy blue suite and white hat blended in perfectly, add a few stogies and your guaranteed some great shots.

For one day South Africa came to Italy and all along our way from the Villa to the reception people clapped and congratulated. The reception was held at the impressive Le Sirenuse hotel which was the pinnacle of Italian hospitality.

A big Thank you to both Lara and Jean and all the family and friends that made this wedding such a great experience.
