2009 marks 25 years in business for our family business. The founder, Colin Sunkel, started photography over 40 years ago. His son, Kurt (that’s me), studied photography and practiced as a professional photographer for 12 years before launching thephotolab@studio22 in 2002.

Our experienced team does not only include the members, three of the over 22 staff members have been with the company for close to 20 years.

 

Colin’s drive for quality lead him to opening his own in-house lab. He was then able to print his clients work to a quality that met his satisfaction and offer a speedy service. As others came to hear of his work, there was a growing demand from other photographers.

We installed our first digital printer in 2002. We opened our doors to all photographers and enthusiasts looking for professional service from people who understand the industry. My years of experience in professional colour and Black & White darkroom work was followed by a few months of in store experience at Britain’s leading photographic retailer, Jessops in London.
 

 

  

With our roots in commercial and industrial photography we can also boast 100’s of weddings and our fair share of social functions under our belt. We certainly know the photography industry and what photographers deal with on the job.
