Ida-Elsje is an accomplished jeweller, who designs and manufactures unique and individual pieces. Ida specialises in personalised handmade platinum and diamond engagement rings. Diamonds are set in gold, platinum, silver, wood and even synthetic amber. Ida likes to consult with her clients, to get a sense of what they want before she makes any suggestions. She also produces pieces using precious or semi-precious stones and other materials, ranging from brilliant cut and semi cut diamonds as well as landscape picture agate. Her customers have come many creative corners around the globe and She has made engagement rings for some off South Africa’s top magazine editors, fashion designers, architects and other creative’s such as an internationally acclaimed rock star.

She also has an extensive range of exclusive earrings that range from small delicate diamonds to large bold chandelier and filigree designs. Sometimes, she uses her customer’s handwriting to complete an intimate item using laser or hand engraving. Ida also produces individually designed necklaces, bracelets, pendants and brooches. Ida has done a unique range for every Cape Town fashion week, working with the clothing designers to compliment their clothes. Ida shares her studio showroom space with Philippa Green, and together they call themselves Olive Green Cat. They collaborate with architect Gregory Katz on a range called Situ, a completely innovative way of setting diamonds, where diamonds are suspended in synthetic amber. Olive Green Cat is an exciting space, often visited by artists, actors, directors, architects and other creative people. The showroom/workshop is a vibrant, friendly place where visitors can see how each piece is made, or choose from a selection of hand-made, contemporary South African jewellery.
